We slept in all the way til seven O'Clock Utah time ( which isn't two significant other than we are two hours ahead out here and that can get confusing) and then both teams studied and practiced. The parli team went to an orientation on parli and room assignments. I escaped again for a little while and went with the marketing team to the career expo and to the shopping mall, I got a lot of free stuff and got to see all of the new tractors from Case, John Deere, and New Holland. I even got a squishy John Deere tractor. There was free stuff, blue jackets and people for as far as I could see.
After about two hours of that Mrs. Silcox caught me and had me take the parli test...it was a cinch...not. But it went really well for the team, some even think they maybe got 100% and, Oh wait! Can you smell that coming throght the screen, ya that's the smell of victory for them. Marketing team went to their orentation and it went really well...you can smell there victory too. After that we had a fine dinner at Smash Burger and went the gas station and Aubrey and Mr. Hendry bought some of the scratch off tickets at the gas station...yes I said Aubrey and Mr. Hendry. After that we again servived the ride home with Uncle Russel, even the speed bumps(ask Koleman and McKaylie how their heads are). Both teams are studying again back at the hotel in Louisville Kentucky, living the FFA Dream. On a little side note, we did get to meet and go to dinner with the new advisor from South Summit, she's pretty cool. Tomorrow we win!! Remember - Everyday is a Holiday and tomorrow is Halloween!! Trick or treat everyone!!!! - Daren So, the Parliamentary procedure studied all day, but I escaped the torture!! (hahaha) Mr. Hendry and the marketing team we on an adventure and I tagged a long. We went to some cool and exciting places like Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby Museum, the Kentucky Horse park, Keeneland race track and squirrel hunting. We even survived Mr. Hendry's driving, good thing Officer Daily wasn't there! We got to go on a back side tour today of the barns and trainers that work out of Churchill Downs. It was pretty awesome. We also got to each lunch with our tour guide, but even more cool than that was we ate lunch at the restaurant where they filmed a few of the scenes from the movie Secretariant. For future thought, if you come to Kentucky go to the museum and watch the Run for the Roses video at the museum. It is awesome even if you are not a horse lover,
I had to be a driver in the passenger seat today and it was interesting!! We went to the Cracker Barrel for dinner and now I am exhausted at the hotel. Tomorrow starts competition day so I just hope we make it on time. Mr. Hendry tried to use Siri but he just took whatever road he wanted to and so we got to see A LOT of country today. It was awesome. I am hoping to see some new John Deere tractors tomorrow. Stay tuned for more adventures. Check out the FaceBook page for awesome picutres of today. - Daren First day of my first National FFA Convention trip and I survived. This was my first flying experience and it wasn't too bad. The first plane was a little rough and the landing a little abrupt, but nothing to harsh. What was harsh though was my exposure to Caishalynne and Bradie Jill, I forgot how forward they are and how much in love they are with me. I will have to keep my distance.
In other news, our cars were too small for all of the luggage the women packed and we had to hold suitcases on our laps on the way to the hotel. I lucked out with my roommate and got Koleman!! We ate at Joe's Crab Shack at the River Front Park in downtown Louisville. It was pretty neat. Caish won the crazy person dance contest at the restaurant and got a free t-shirt, hopefully that win is a sign of good things to come. I took like a million pictures on the water front of the girls on the team posing in all sorts of weird ways while Koleman harvested mussels off the side of the pier. Check out all of the pictures and posts on our FaceBook page, NS FFA on FaceBook of course Pretty excited for tomorrow, going to Churchhill Downs to see the Horses practice in the morning, maybe I'll even see a John Deere or two working the track!! Mrs. SIlcox says to be sure to make time to watch convention this week. She will send you an email . Remember every day is a holiday. Daren |
